There are risks to mixing business with pleasure...

IF A MAN HAS AN AFFAIR AT WORK, HE'S A STUD.

He was a royal prick.
The night we met, he ignored me.
Then Mr. Big Shot CEO grabbed my ass in a business meeting.
My boss just loaned me out to this guy.
Now, we’re working on a major project together.
And our chemistry is dangerous.
Combustible.
If I allow it to ignite, I’ll risk losing that promotion.
Worse, what if I lose myself in him?

IF A WOMAN HAS AN AFFAIR AT WORK, SHE'S A SLUT.

From the moment I saw her I knew she was trouble.
It was the combination of her fresh face, smart mouth and nipples that seemed to know my name.
This woman could satisfy my needs both in the boardroom and the bedroom.
But there was more to it than that.
I wanted her.
Really wanted her.
And I was in the position to change the course of her life.
But I’ve got secrets, secrets that could destroy her.
And either make her mine or drive her away forever.

Parking the Lotus, I quickly head to her side to help her out. She gives me a look and I laugh, “I’m only trying to be a gentleman.” I feign innocence.
“Mmm-hmm.” Even her mmm-hmm is dripping sarcasm.
Not commando. White lace. Oh God, she’s destroying me. I want to rip them off and lower her onto my lap. Impale her and discover what kissing does to her with my cock inside her.
Damn it. Will I be able to keep the promises I want to make?
Our waiter comes by and I order two Manhattans, smiling at Sierra.
“Craving cherries?” Her eyebrows are raised.
Oh man, she really is going to kill me tonight.
“Only if they are yours.”
“You want mine?” she asks and I can see she feels it. She feels our energy.
“More than you can imagine.”
“I would hate to deny you.”
“Good girl. Then don’t.”
The waiter places the Martini glasses in front of us and I lift mine, “Good to see you again.” And I hope she can see how sincere I am.
“Good to see you.” She takes a sip and her nose scrunches up. “This tastes different.”
“They make theirs with rye whiskey instead of bourbon.”
Another two sips and the cherry is no longer submerged. Sierra reaches into the glass and plucks it out. About ready to pop it into her mouth, she catches my eye and smiles. She’s just messing with me. Reaching out, I grasp her slender wrist and slowly pull it to me. Taking the tips of her thumb and forefinger into my mouth, I suck the cherry out from between her fingers and show it to her on my tongue before slowly chewing it, a smile firmly planted on my face.
I’m still holding her wrist and with my free hand, I signal to the waiter for two more.
“We need to talk, Hale.”
I can see she is struggling. We are in such dangerous territory and we escalate there quickly and too easily. She is clearly unnerved and I’m not sure if it’s by her own behavior, mine or what happens when we’re together. Her eyes search mine as if she is hoping to find some truth. I loosen my hold on her wrist and pick up my drink.
“Let me start by first saying something I have yet to say to you. I’m sorry, Sierra. I’m sorry I disrespected you.”

Excerpt:

I should have suspected something. Instead, when the doorbell rang, I opened the door without the slightest idea of what was waiting for me.

Beverly showed up on my doorstep along with the man I had tried to keep away all week.

“Shit,” I said. “What now?”

Brandon smiled, but looked sheepish, which made me worry. He was holding a bouquet of roses, and handed it to me without saying a word. I took it and thanked him, and when I locked eyes with his, I felt a million different feelings unleash inside of me.

He was giving me that hooded, cautious look. His eyes looked a deeper blue than usual. My eyes fell on his mouth and I realized how much I had missed his touch.

I wanted to jump into his arms, but there was still doubt in my heart and it was weighing the happy-go-lucky part of me down.

“Okay, so…as you might have guessed by now, you and I aren’t going anywhere,” Beverly spoke. “But you and Brandon are going on a little adventure–”

“What?” I turned to her snapping out of my Brandon-induced daydream.

“Yes! And you have to leave, like…right now. So, chop-chop!”

I looked at Brandon quizzically. “What do you have to say? Cat got your tongue?” I joked.

“I want you to come with me. I don’t want to have to persuade you. I’m also afraid I’m going to spill the beans and ruin the whole thing,” he said.

“You seem pretty good at keeping things to yourself,” I sneered.

“Alright! Easy, woman! Come on, time to go!” She came behind me and started pushing me towards Brandon’s car.

“Okay, okay!” I took my purse, locked the house and unwillingly walked to the car, all with the flowers in my arms. “Crap! I forgot about the flowers. I turned to Beverly. “You have the keys to my house, right? Would you mind putting them in a vase?”

“I’ll do it,” she replied.

“Thanks.”

“But first, there’s something else I have to do.” She exchanged a look with Brandon and I stared confused at the two of them.

She got a strip of black fabric out of her purse. What the hell was that?

“Turn around,” she commanded.

“What?”

“Turn around. I have to put this blindfold on you.”

“Seriously?” I gasped. How could these two people be those I used to think I trusted? “Am I not coming willingly?” I asked Brandon.

“This is her idea,” he replied, tilting his head in Beverly’s direction.

Of course. I should have known. Miss lover of kinky steamy romance novels.

“Well, it’s not necessary,” I argued.

“It totally is,” Beverly rebuffed. “It’s going to ruin the whole surprise. Wear the motherfucking blindfold or so help me God, Lucy.”

“Okay, okay.” Jeez. Who knew she could be such a Bossypants? “You’re making me reconsider our friendship, you know,” I told her.

“Lies,” she said, tying the knot behind my head. “All done!” she exclaimed and then pinched my butt.

“Ouch!”

Awww, stop it, you sissy. Give me these.” She took the flowers from my arms. Brandon took my hand and just the feeling of his warm fingers around mine, made my heart jump a little. I exhaled.

“I promise you, this is going to be good,” he whispered in my ear. God, his voice sounded even sexier than I remembered.

He helped me in the car and put the seatbelt around me. His lips brushed against mine just for a second, and I gasped.

“I have to admit, I do like this blindfold,” he teased.

“Of course you do.”

“I almost forgot,” Beverly said. She took my hand and placed some lightweight object in my hand. It was shaped like a square and it was made of paper.

“What is it?”

“A CD mix. A little ‘sorry for blindfolding you, friend, have a great time on your mystery road trip’ playlist.”

“Road trip?” I asked.

“Oops, I said too much. Anyway, I’m sure you’re going to hate me a little less after you listen to it.”

“If you say so.”

“Have a fabulous night and don’t forget to tell your best friend she’s the best when you end up having a great time.”

“We’ll see about that,” I joked and smiled, but I wondered if she knew I was joking. I couldn’t see her and wasn’t sure if she was smiling.

“Bye, Lucy. I wuv you!”

Wuv you too!”

She closed the door, and a moment later I heard Brandon’s door open and he sat in the passenger seat. He closed his door and started the car.

“Where are we going?” I asked him.

“You’ll see.”

“Well, at the moment, I can’t see anything.” He laughed. It was a warm, rich sound that eased up the nervousness and made me smile.

“I missed your smile,” he said. “I can’t believe you had the strength to stay away from me a whole week.”

“Eight days,” I corrected him.

“Were you going to keep giving me the cold shoulder if I hadn’t showed up at your door?”

“I don’t know.” I heard him exhale a deep breath and wondered if that hurt his feelings. It was easier to be indifferent to him when he wasn’t around. Now, in the small space of the car, my head swam in his scent, his words made my heartbeat speed up, and a warm and fuzzy feeling spread into my chest. The knots in my stomach dissolved and the words almost come rushing out of my mouth.

“I missed you too.”

“Good,” he said.

My 4 star review of FU Cancer
This isn’t my first Hilaria book, but I do have to say it’s my fave. I really enjoyed her writing in This Love for sure- so I was pumped at a chance to read this story. Cancer really touches a special place in my heart- being as how my sister had a brain tumor.

Lucy abides by the rules and played it safe, she had two boys with the man she loved. Patrick was 10 years older than her- but he had the Peter Pan syndrome hard and just couldn’t grow up, so he divorced her. But then you would think all of that happened to her what else could possibly happen. She gets breast cancer. She doesn’t see it as a moment to mope or be depressed; she sees it as growth and fighting. She is going to kick cancers butt, with the help of all her friends, and her family. She has an awesome outlook on the vague one she had been given.

SO many women would love to read this book- I mean, almost everyone knows someone affected by cancer, and by breast cancer at that. I definitely did my share of crying during this story. I was so excited to read this book- the colorful characters, the great plot, and everything in between that made it so so good.

My 5 star review of Dirty Pleasures by Meghan March
I freaking LOVE Meghan and LOVE this series. Creighton and Holly are back at it- and what a crazy whirlwind it is. The laughs, the banter, the tension, the fights, the sex- Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, me thinks Meghan is out to get us!! OH, and don’t forget the angst, the delicious angst!!

Part two of this trilogy starts up where Part one left off, where Holly was leaving Creighton for forgetting that she needed to get back to Nashville to be on her tour bus. This book is about truth, and honest feelings- they have them for each other, neither wanting to admit it for fear of what that means. Holly not willing to give her heart over just yet, and Creighton always being the playboy doesn’t want to admit he has finally fallen for someone.

I love, love, love Creighton- his alpha ways are to die for- and I really enjoy Holly and how she can stand up to him, when he is being a self-righteous prick and forgets she exists!! I need the HEA, I am dying over here!! I need the ending and I need both the characters to love each other forever and ever, amen!!! Write your little fingers off Meghan, we are waiting on you and this awesome story!!

Only one problem.

She wouldn't tell me her name or her number when she disappeared from the hotel room after the hottest fucking night of my life.

Now I've had a taste of unicorn pussy–the sweetest, rarest of all pussy–and I need it again.

So what's an asshole to do?

Tangled Vines Excerpt © Nicole Flockton 2015

Kyle’s stomach rumbled, reminding him it had been a long time since he’d eaten something. He glanced at the house and sighed. Maybe he could get her to leave after he’d sampled some of the food she’d prepared.
He followed the same path Jordan had taken moments ago. Of course, after succumbing to the call of his stomach and eating her food, getting her to leave would not be an easy task. He hated to admit it, he quite enjoyed sparring with her. It had been a long time since a woman had answered him back—if ever.
The smell of bacon, eggs and toast greeted him in the kitchen.
“Ah, so you decided to join me after all. Isn’t that nice.” Sarcasm dripped from her every word.
He shrugged a shoulder, as if she hadn’t won the battle of wills going on between them. “I’ve never been one to say no to food I haven’t had to cook. It tastes so much sweeter.”
“I bet your mother is really happy to hear you say that after she’s slaved over a meal for you.”
Images of his mum laughing as she cooked the Sunday family meal slashed him like barbs from razor wire. The way she would always drop a kiss on his head before she slapped his hand away from the morsel of food he attempted to steal.
One more chance. That’s all he wanted. One more chance to talk to her. To tell her he loved her. Tell her he was sorry.
“Are you okay?” Her fingers touched his back. Kyle shrugged them off. He didn’t want sympathy. Nor pity. He didn’t deserve it.
Words were impossible so he grunted in response and picked up a plate and helped himself to the food set out on the counter.
“No wonder you get on so well with my father. He struggles with conversation, too.”
Kyle ignored her and concentrated on eating. The repetitive motion of putting food in his mouth helped to keep away the thoughts of his last conversation with his mum and dad.
The aroma of rich, freshly brewed coffee teased his senses. He lifted his eyes from the diminishing pile of food and connected with sparkling green ones.
“You look like you need this,” she said quietly as she pushed the steaming mug toward him.
“Thanks.”
""Just be careful you don’t spill it.” Jordan tilted her head toward his bare chest. “You wouldn’t want to burn yourself.”
Kyle rocked back on his chair. “You don’t need to worry about me. All you need to worry about is packing your bags and going back to your house instead of encroaching on mine.”
To his annoyance, Jordan sat down at the table opposite him. A part of him had to give the girl her due for standing up to him.
“Wish I could. But I can’t. I don’t have a house to go back to. I moved back here from South Australia just before Dad’s accident.”
His chair landed with a thump. “What do you mean you don’t have a house? Why aren’t you staying in Ted’s apartment?”
A harsh laugh erupted from her. For the first time since he’d encountered her naked body in the bathroom, bitterness and anger entered her eyes.
Jordan sighed, picked up her coffee cup and took a sip. “I’m sure your assistant Shey explained why I’m living here. She said it was okay when I spoke to her about it on Monday.”
He recalled Shey saying there was an issue down here, but he’d told her to deal with it—just so long as he wasn’t disturbed while he was in residence he didn’t care. Shey assured him she would handle it.
Now he wished he’d questioned her further. He had no plans to let Jordan know he didn’t know everything.
“Remind me.” His words came out as a command.
Jordan’s eyes narrowed at his tone. He waited for the tongue-lashing he was sure she wanted to lay on him.
“The hot water system in Dad’s apartment over the garage broke and flooded the whole place. The apartment now needs to be refurbished, starting with paint and carpet and new appliances. However, with Christmas almost upon us, the job is going to take twice as long to complete. This is why I’m staying here.”
Kyle bit back a groan. Why was this happening to him? All he wanted was to be alone at his house. Only now he had an unwanted visitor.
Hell, he’d pay for her to stay in a hotel. Anything. He’d do anything just to get her to leave.
“Look, Jordan, I need you out. I need my privacy. Go see John at the Margaret River Inn. He will hook you up with a room. Tell him to send me the bill.”
“I don’t need your money to go to a hotel, thank you very much. But bad news, buddy.” As Jordan lifted her cup of coffee again, Kyle knew he wasn’t going to like what she had to say. “It’s going to be near impossible to get any accommodation at any of the local hotels. It’s school holidays and it’s Christmas. Everything is going to be booked. Looks like you’re stuck with me.”
Kyle pushed his chair back. “This is unacceptable. This is my house, Jordan. You don’t have any right to be here. Regardless of the arrangement you’ve made with Shey.”
He held up his hand as she went to speak. “In the caretaker arrangement I have with your father, it’s extremely clear that every year your father is to vacate the property from the third Wednesday in December until the second Sunday in January. I appreciate you taking over your father’s position while he recuperates from his broken leg. But you are bound by the same contractual arrangement. Which means you shouldn’t be here.”
Kyle tamped down the annoyance building inside of him at the sight of the smile that broke out over Jordan’s face. He didn’t want to acknowledge the way his heart beat a little faster as the smile lit up her whole face. He needed to remain angry with her. It was the only way. He couldn’t afford any other emotion with her or anyone. He didn’t feel anymore. It was safer not to feel. Safer to go to work and come home to an empty house and no one waiting or relying on him.
“Well, I believe I may have a different employment contract than my father. There’s nothing in mine that mentions I have to vacate the caretaker’s apartment in December and January.”
The anger he fought seconds ago bubbled up inside of him. He grasped it with both hands.
“That’s easily fixed. You’re fired.”

My 3.5 star review of Nicole Flockton’s Tangled Vines

This is my first book by Nicole, and I enjoyed it. There was strong writing and conviction there, but it also felt very rushed through, and it was essentially a novella in length. That said it will shape up to be an interesting series I think.

The story is set in the wine region of Western Australia, which was super cool to see. The hero is Kyle and he buys a rundown vineyard. He plans on hiding there and basically drinking until someone finds him. He isn’t fond of spending time with his family and has avoided them for a lot of years.

The heroine is Jordan, and her father is the caretaker of Kyle’s vineyard. She comes home, actually- to see her father, and also because her fiancĂ© broke up with her in a horrible way and even stole from her. She runs to the vineyard because she sees the potential it has and maybe she can focus her time on helping her father instead of festering about her ex-fiancĂ©. Then, her father breaks his leg, and she sees it as a great opportunity to be of help, she needs to prove herself somehow.

But then Kyle turns up and wants her to leave! and at the most opportune time for the grapes to be growing for his vineyard! Then the fights ensued, and both are extremely stubborn! But there is also something else there that sparks, the sexual attraction! I enjoyed the story, and I am sure the rest of the series will be just as good.

Bestselling author Nicole Flockton writes sexy contemporary romances, seducing you one kiss at a time as you turn the pages. Nicole likes nothing better than taking characters and creating unique situations where they fight to find their true love.

On her first school report her teacher noted ""Nicole likes to tell her own stories"". It wasn’t until after the birth of her first child and after having fun on a romance community forum that she finally decided to take the plunge and write a book.

Apart from writing Nicole is busy looking after her very own hero – her wonderfully supportive husband, and two fabulous kids. She also enjoys watching sports and, of course, reading.
