Ash Despite everything I've done for my parents, I'll never be good enough for them. Instead of seeing a man to be proud of, they just see an embarrassment. I served four tours in Afghanistan but that doesn't mean anything to them. They only see the ink, the party life, and my short stint in jail. And nothing else. When they were in trouble, I handed over my life savings. I didn't think twice about it because they're my family, my blood. They raised me to be my own man and gave me everything I needed. It didn't matter that it was every penny I had. It didn't matter that the money was set aside for my future. My dreams. Because they needed me. But now they refuse to pay me back until I become the man they think I should be.
Alessandra I have an unusual professional. I escort men, acting as their date to family functions or work parties. It's my job to act deeply in love with my client. And I always nail it. But it's not what you think. I'm not a prostitute. I'm not a call girl. I'm an actress. Get it right. There are strict rules when it comes to my profession. There is no touching, kissing, or anything but hand-holding. Those who choose not to comply will get a swift kick in the nuts. But all this goes to hell when Ash walks into my life.

I need to get ready.” “For what?” His voice sounded raspy because we hadn’t spoken in so long. I cringed because I didn’t want to say it. “I’m seeing Brad.” Guilt flushed through me. Was I really the kind of girl that went on a date right after I slept with someone? It grossed me out. Ash’s eyes immediately darkened and he looked pissed. A fire erupted in his eyes, but the flames were black. “So, you’re just going to run off and have dinner with this chump?” I didn’t want to fight so I kept my mouth shut. He gripped me by the wrist and yanked me back into bed. “Call it off.” “Call it off?” I asked incredulously. “I’m supposed to meet him in a little over an hour.” “Tell him you’re sick.” He squeezed my wrist. “I’m not bailing on him.” “Just do it,” he ordered. “And why should I?” I grew heated, all the anger coming back. “Give me one good reason, Ash.” He held my gaze without blinking. “Me.” “You?” I couldn’t keep the venom out of my voice. “What about you? I should ditch a nice guy so I can keep being your fuck buddy? What’s the point in that?” “It’s pretty damn clear you’d rather be with me instead of him.” His cockiness was usually endearing but now it was just irritating. “You’re such an ass.” I yanked my arm out of his grasp. He grabbed me again. “Why go to him when you have me? I make you happy. I give you what you need. It doesn’t make any sense to go out with him. You really want some lame lawyer?” “He’s a very nice guy.” “Like you want a nice guy,” he barked. “You want me. Why else would you have slept with me for two days?” I didn’t answer his question. “I’m not going to keep doing this, Ash. I need something more than a fuck buddy. I’m looking for a relationship, a long lasting one. This was fun while it lasted but it’s over. Let’s just walk away and move on.”
EXCERPT: I felt the distant burn. It was so foreign I wasn’t entirely sure what it was. But it was coming, and it was going to be powerful. “I think I’m going to come.” “No, Alessandra. You are going to come.” He leaned far over me, his pelvic bone rubbing against my clitoris as he slammed into me hard. The headboard smacked into the wall repeatedly, echoing loudly in the room. Ash gave it to me as hard as possible, and his chest dripped with sweat as he gave it to me good. And then it happened. It was like a cosmic explosion deep inside me. I was so hot and sweaty, but that suddenly felt good during the experience. My body tightened around him because my muscles had lost control. My nails dug into his hips as I yanked him harder into me, out of my mind in my euphoric state. “Ash…” He watched every expression I made, and he moaned as the fire burned in my eyes. “I love watching this.” My nails scratched his back as I finished the high. I slowly came down, like a feather on the wind. I drifted back to earth, still feeling the distant pleasure throbbing deep in my body. “Oh my god…” Ash slowed down then stopped. He leaned far over me and gave me a hot kiss. His tongue found mine and they danced together. I cupped his face as passion and gratitude overtook me. “I’m not done with you.” He sucked my bottom lip before he abruptly turned me over on my stomach. He shoved himself inside me again, making me cry out because his entrance felt amazing just like before. He pressed one hand against my lower back as he fucked me hard into the mattress. His power made my body rub against the sheets, and my clitoris was stimulated all over again. His lips found my ear. “This is how a man fucks his woman.”
My 3.5 star review of Into the Fire
Into the Fire is my first EL Todd book. I enjoyed it. It was a well written book with developed characters a great plot line.
Ash is the hero. He is the epitome of cocky bastard. He is definitely full of himself, totally alpha, and sleeps around. But at the same time he is very tender and loyal to the ones that mean the most to him. He even loaned his life’s savings to his parents to save his business. They won’t, however, give him a penny back until he gets his act together- and that includes finding someone to settle down with.
Alessandra is the heroine, and her company- Gorgeous Entourage is going to help Ash out. She is a platonic escort, who Ash will hire to play his girlfriend. I love these kinds of stories, they always turn out awesome. They hate each other and then they love each other. Ash gets under Alessandra’s skin right out of the gate. And the hilarious banter and friction between the two are amazing.
Alessandra isn’t looking for a real relationship either- she is totally ok with just playing a girlfriend- but it seems Ash has other plans once he sets his sights on her. And when they finally get together the chemistry is off the damn charts amazing!!
The different chapters in this book were awesome in range of emotions- happy, sad, and emotional and full of angst one minute and sweet the next. I really enjoyed the two of them together- and they found their matches in each other. I'd would say the reason it didn’t get 4 stars from me was the dialogue- it was in parts overdone and drawn out. And that would be the only reason, because I really enjoyed the writing.
