“Hey,” he said calmly. “Why aren’t you resting?” Rick put his hands on her shoulders, gently massaging her arms.

Quinn’s eyes grew large and went to his gloved hands.

Fuck, she hates fighting. Now I know why she looks freaked out.

Rick yanked his hands away and took a step back. “I didn’t mean for you to see me fight, Quinn. I’m sorry.”

To his surprise, Quinn stepped forward, closing the distance Rick had put between them. He watched as she hesitantly lifted her arms, placing her hands on his sweat-slicked chest. Her eyes met his and his breath left in a sharp huff. The fear he had expected to see wasn’t there. No… Quinn’s eyes were dark and glistening with lust.

“I didn’t know that watching you fight would be so comforting. It makes me feel safe, and… turned on,” she murmured. Rick shivered as her hands ran down his torso, moving over each defined muscle until they were resting on either side of his waist.

“Turned on?” Rick swallowed, barely able to speak with Quinn touching him like that. She was only just about healed from the attack. He figured it would be months, if not longer before she’d be interested in pursuing anything physical.

“Yes, turned on.” Quinn’s fingers dug into Rick’s waist, her thumbs making small circles on the ‘v’ shaped ridges of his lower abs. Scorching waves of pleasure rippled down his spine, instantly making his cock come to life.

“Jesus,” he muttered softly. Using every last bit of willpower he had, Rick captured Quinn’s wrists, removing her hands from his body. “Not here, doll.” He glanced around, but none of the other fighters were looking their way. Still, he’d kill them if they saw the lust in Quinn’s eyes. That was for him, and him alone.

Quinn pouted, crossing her arms and glaring like a kid denied her favorite candy.

He couldn’t help himself. The sight of this tiny thing trying to look intimidating was funny. Rick laughed. “You’re too much, doll.” The corner of her mouth twitched up—it was just a hint of a smile, but it made Rick’s day. Quinn hadn’t smiled once since his team rescued her. Seeing some of her personality coming back flooded him with emotion.

My four star review:

This was my first book from Heather C. Leigh and it won’t be my last. The Ricochet series is a three part series. It touched on subjects from the military, to MMA, to abuse. It showed alpha males and kick ass females.

Rick "Ricochet" Brennan is ex-military and I feel like he suffers from PTSD, but also that he tries to keep up with the big bad alpha male attitude by locking everything inside. I liked his character, and he was able to show a softer side of himself as well. After an injury he goes to work for a former command officer, at an MMA training center in Atlanta. Mack hand picks his trainers- and he wants Rick. There is also a big secret dealing with this gym.

Quinn Wallace is such a strong woman in this book; she has really been put through the ringer. With an abusive husband and her father passing, she has had some hardships. And even though she still sometimes fears for her life, she is slowly getting through by turning to her father’s Marine Corps friend, Mack.

When she gets to the gym, she didn’t bargain for the amount of men that were going to be surrounding her, and she sort of panics. She meets Rick and she wonders if he is different, if she can let down her guard with him and really be herself, and perhaps find love again!

This was a great start to the series- with good characters, and overall well developed plot, I was super excited to be granted an advanced copy and couldn’t wait for part two!

My 4 star review:

Part two turned out actually pretty great, even though part two ended kind of crappy- for Rick any way!! And also a cliffy which I kind of figured…so even if I wanted to shake the both of them, I got over it- because I am a fan of this series!

There was definitely some angst present in this book. Quinn has a lot to get over- and it’s tough. Her dads passing, her escape from Travis her abusive husband, and ultimately her relationship with Rick. I totally got how Quinn was feeling and even though she may have gone about it the wrong way- it all worked out in the end.

I really enjoyed the action packed second half of this book. And holy hell the cliffhanger! I couldn’t believe it, but knew it was coming- because there was a part three!!

Ricochet- Extraction Point- Ricochet #3

My 4 star review:

The final piece to the puzzle! Extraction point was the third story, and hopefully the happy ending with Rick and Quinn I so desperately needed. My heart was racing, and my stomach felt like it was going to fall down to the floor!

I was scared for Quinn half the time, and the other half I was falling in love with their relationship. I loved the final book to this series, and I just knew it was going to be a doozy.

I hope there is more in store for Sanctum MMA gym. So we can get to know all of the other members as well as we came to love Rick.

You have to read all three of these amazing books, and in order! You will really love the plot, all angsty and suspense filled. You will enjoy the characters- even when you don’t get along with them. And you will swoon at the writing- it was so good.
