From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new, sexy standalone novel.   It seemed like a good idea at the time. Look up Landon Roderick, that boy from childhood whom I’d never been able to forget—even though he so easily forgot about me—and call him.   Then again, anything sounds like a good idea when you’ve had a little too much wine before bed, right? It was supposed to be just a quick, meaningless, prank call. Instead, I went off on him—unloading thirteen years of pent-up emotions.   I didn’t think he’d call me back.   I certainly could never have anticipated the weeks of sexually tense phone conversations that followed as I got to know the man he’d become.   Turned out, Landon had never really forgotten me, either. That special connection we had was still there. I opened up to him, but there were also things about me he didn’t know. And he had his own secrets.   Over the countless hours we talked on the phone, I wondered what would happen if we actually saw each other. One night, I did something impulsive again. Only this time, I went to the airport and booked a ticket to California. We were about to find out if one phone call could bring two lost souls together or if my drunk dial really was all just a big mistake.   A complete STANDALONE.

My 5 star review!!

Penelope Ward is one of my favorite authors, hands down. She never disappoints, and continues to blow me away with her words time after time- and here we are yet again with another stunning show of craftsmanship, Drunk Dial.

I fell in love with Rana Saloomi immediately. She is a belly dancer- and a drunk one at that. She was feeling nostalgic after too much wine- and decided the best course of action was to text Landon. Someone she hasn’t had contact with since she was 13 when her parents lived in a small apartment on Lardons parents’ property. When Landon answers the phone, she basically goes off on him and lectures him about his life. How he’s all high and mighty now living in his mansion in LA. And after she tells him what’s what she hangs up, thinking she will never talk to him again. Never knowing in the beginning the power of that drunk dial. Rana’s fire doesn’t cease to amaze me throughout this story. She has gone through a lot of things in her life- and her spirit cannot be contained. Even with all the twists and turns her story takes, it leads you on a journey of self-discovery and healing.

And if I thought I loved Rana, I was head over heels with Landon Roderick from the get go. He reminds me a lot of Jake Green, my number one book boyfriend of all time. He was so alpha too, squee, my favorite kind of hero. When he gets a drunk dial from Rana, it’s an obvious unexpected coincidence. And while we don’t really get his POV- Landon is so full of emotion, you can’t help but fall in love with how much he does feel and he does really care. Landon has some twists and turns to his story too. His story is about love, compassion, and above all forgiveness.

The virtual date- when you get to that scene- I wish I knew all the fan girl nerds like me, who just sigh over that scene, and we would totally gab over that scene- because it was so AMAZING. Possibly one of my favorite scenes in the book. There were so many small intricacies of the story that made me fall in love with it- the food truck, the sandwich names, Rana’s roommate, the belly dancing, the sending of clothes across the US, and the piercings J yes, the piercings- shew! Rana and Landon’s love story is one I will not soon forget- its brilliancy personified and I can’t wait for everyone to read Penelope’s words.  Penelope always knows how to wow me with her words- and with Drunk Dial she certainly did just that. Enjoy!
